O Último Construtor de Barcos de Corrida (The last wooden racing boat builder)
While rowing boats - the type used in racing - were once all made from wood, nowadays most boat shells are a lighter carbon-fibre plastic composite.
But Londoner Bill Colley is one of the few people in the world still proudly building wooden racing boats for commercial sale - although he has barely completed a handful of orders in the last decade because of the dwindling amount of trade.
So he spends his days down at his Richmond-upon-Thames boathouse waiting for his next order - and watching the world go by.

Grayhound Lugger Sailing: Paimpol to Plymouth
Grayhound is a three masted replica customs lugger from 1776. Launched in 2012, the 63 ft long wooden beauty was built within one mile of where the original was made and now runs charter trips around the world. I was lucky enough to join the lovely family of sailors on a trip from Plymouth to Paimpol festival in France. This film shows some of the footage I couldn't help but record, including a time lapse that involved me being hoisted up the main mast and a magical encounter with a dolphin.

United States' Oldest Commercial Vessel to be Relaunched
.... the 172-year-old Charles W. Morgan whaleship, the world’s last remaining wooden whaleship and the United States’ oldest commercial vessel. The ship, no longer a hunter of whales, will be launched from Mystic Seaport on July 21, and has been recast as a living example of the importance of species conservation, U.S. maritime heritage, and the enduring American will to succeed.

Nina, A Maritime Beauty Possibly Gone Forever
By PATRICK MCGEEHAN
If Nina did sink, it would spell the end of a long, eventful life that took the yacht from its creation on Cape Cod to New York City, to Bermuda and back many times, across the Atlantic to Europe, to Florida and, finally, to the South Pacific. Along the way, it was a racer, a flagship, a training vessel for aspiring mariners and the unrequited love of so many sailors.
